In my mind, May is hues of soft pastels, tulips in the front garden, a floral patterned dress as I sit on a patio in the glow of early evening sun. There’s a promise in the air; laughter rings. Yes, I’d love another gin and tonic, thank you.

The Darkness of Dickens: Oliver Twist
Reading Oliver Twist was like being stuck in a 447 page nightmare.
Even before picking up the book, I vaguely knew what I was getting myself into, having seen various movie adaptations, including the BBC mini series, the hit musical Oliver!, and Disney’s Oliver and Company.

New Face, New Me
There comes a defining moment in every young girl’s life. I’m not talking about when she has to pick the colour of her grad dress or has to decide whether she’s Team Jacob or Team Edward. While these are, of course, very important, the moment I’m referring to is when she looks in the mirror and wishes her eyelashes were longer, her freckles not so obvious, and her lips brighter.

The Truth About Holly Golightly from ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’
I read Breakfast at Tiffany’s in the glow of candlelight, blissfully submerged in a hot bath. Seemed fitting, considering the glamorous lifestyle of Holly Golightly herself. The only thing missing was a cocktail, a tawny cat, and a handful of millionaire playboys and/or gangsters waiting on me hand and foot (thank God because I hate cats and feel much the same way about playboys and/or gangsters).
